About The Position

Franklin County Fiscal Court Assistant Maintenance Director The Assistant Maintenance Director is a hands-on working position which supports or leads the maintenance department, ensuring facilities, equipment, and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) are functional, safe, and well-maintained. Responsibilities include supervising staff if the Director is out of the office, managing preventative maintenance programs, handling work orders, and enforcing safety regulations. They assist with budgets, contractor management, and inventory control.

Requirements

• Experience: Generally requires 3+ years of maintenance experience, with supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong, working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and facility systems.
• Certifications: EPA (HVAC), CPO (Pool), or other relevant trade certifications are often required.
• Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills for maintenance management software.
• Must be capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
• Requires the ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, and kneel for extended periods.
• Must be able to safely climb ladders and stairs as part of daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Operations Management: Perform daily repairs and maintenance for buildings, grounds, and equipment, ensuring timely completion of work orders.
• Preventative Maintenance: Schedule and implement, or supervise, routine inspections and preventative maintenance to prevent equipment failure.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, Fair Housing, and local building codes.
• Budgeting & Purchasing: Assist in developing budgets, monitoring operating expenses, and purchasing supplies and equipment.
• Project Management: Oversee contractors, vendors, and capital improvement projects.
