About The Position

The Penny Ice Creamery is seeking an incredible, passionate leader to join our team as an Assistant Manager! The Penny Ice Creamery combines fresh local ingredients in small batches to create delicious artisanal ice cream. As one of the smallest dairy manufacturing plants in California, our production from all organic dairy and sustainably grown ingredients is done in the shop in full view of our visitors. The Assistant Manager role is a great fit for a hands -on, ambitious, and organized leader who is excited and prepared to assist the management team in overseeing our shops in Santa Cruz County and Santa Clara County. The Assistant Manager ensures the smooth and efficient daily operations of The Penny Ice Creamery. This person must be a hands -on, dynamic leader. The Assistant Manager is able to quickly adapt and change gears throughout the day; they are available on a consistent and reliable basis to assist with shop needs and staffing needs. The Assistant Manager works closely with The Glass Jar management team to achieve business objectives at the shop level through effective leadership and execution. This individual must be able to build and nurture vital relationships with team members, vendors, patrons, and the surrounding community. This person represents our well -established brand in both Santa Cruz County and Santa Clara County. We operate four Penny locations in Santa Cruz County: Downtown Santa Cruz Pleasure Point Aptos Village Scotts Valley We operate two Penny locations in Santa Clara County: The State Street Market in Los Altos The Town and Country Village in Palo Alto

Requirements

Assistant Manager Schedule: This position requires daytime, nights (as late as 11:30PM), and weekends availability. The scheduling requirements will reflect the consistent needs of the business.

General Assistant Manager Duties

Responsibilities

Assist in training and coaching staff; uphold expectations of excellence.
Ensure smooth daily operations.
Assist with scheduling staff; assist with labor cost analysis weekly.
Communicate with staff regularly.
Be the first point of contact for staff inquiries, questions, and concerns.
Monitor and manage staff breaks.
Assist with conducting working interviews to assess potential candidates.
Assist management in anticipating future staffing needs; strategize with management.
Assist in monitoring staff adherence to business policies; relay issues to management.
Build and maintain a hands -on managerial presence in multiple shops as a supportive leader.
Serve as a brand ambassador for The Penny Ice Creamery; proudly represent the core values of the business.
Uphold The Penny Ice Creamery reputation and that of The Glass Jar, Inc.
Resolve delicate guest service situations with poise and professionalism.
Assist in product quality control at multiple locations.
Conduct weekly paper goods inventory at multiple locations; place orders as needed.
Conduct regular kitchen and ice cream inventories for multiple locations.
Assist with the coordination of deliveries of product across locations using requisition protocol.
Assist with apron, towel, sanitizer and soap inventory; order as needed.
Monitor inventory for all products or items at multiple locations as needed.
Assist with ensuring health & safety protocols are followed at multiple shop locations; ensure shop and staff preparedness for impromptu health inspector visits.
Oversee daily shop upkeep to maintain an impeccable presentation.
Maintain and troubleshoot essential equipment, communicating any major issues to management.
Assist in change banks management; assist with monitoring deposits and cash reconciliation for accuracy.
Make cost -cutting and efficiency recommendations to management based on regular assessment.
