Position Summary The Assistant Manager supports the Food & Beverage Manager in overseeing daily restaurant and bar operations while leading a high-energy service team. This hands-on leadership role focuses on delivering exceptional guest experiences, maintaining service standards, and ensuring efficient operations in a busy indoor and outdoor beachfront setting. The ideal candidate thrives on the floor, leads by example, and brings a positive, team-focused approach to hospitality.

Requirements

  • Previous restaurant or bar supervisory/lead experience required
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of POS systems, scheduling, and daily operational procedures
  • Guest-focused mindset with a hands-on leadership style
  • Must be able to work in the restaurant filling in as needed
  • Dependable, professional, and adaptable
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Food Safety and Responsible Alcohol Service certifications required (or ability to obtain)
  • Stand and walk for extended periods (8–10+ hours per shift)
  • Move frequently between indoor and outdoor service areas
  • Lift and carry items up to 40 lbs occasionally
  • Bend, reach, twist, stoop, and kneel as needed during operations
  • Maintain stamina during busy service periods
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as well as indoor
  • Continuous use of hands and arms for operational tasks and equipment use

Responsibilities

  • Support daily front-of-house and bar operations to ensure smooth, efficient service
  • Maintain a strong floor presence during peak meal periods and events
  • Supervise, coach, and support servers, bartenders, hosts, and support staff
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and resolve concerns quickly and professionally
  • Assist with scheduling, shift coverage, and daily staffing needs
  • Help lead pre-shift meetings and communicate service expectations
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and adherence to service standards
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing team training
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, and beverage controls
  • Monitor compliance with food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations
  • Complete opening/closing manager duties and daily operational checklists
  • Collaborate with culinary leadership to maintain service flow and quality
  • Foster a positive and professional team culture aligned with Sandestin values
