About The Position

RN / Assistant Nurse Manager / Census and Staffing / Harborview Medical Center $10,000 Sign-on Bonus for eligible new part-time and full-time employees joining UW Medicine Harborview Medical Center – Census and Staffing - has an outstanding opportunity for Registered Nurse (Assistant Nurse Manager). WORK SCHEDULE 90% FTE, Days (36 hours per week) DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Census and Staffing Office at Harborview Medical Center coordinates the safe, therapeutic allocation of nursing resources to patients/families. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS The Assistant Nurse Manager (RN3) works closely with the Nurse Manager; the Nursing Supervisors; the Patient Placement RNs of the Census and Staffing Dept., and additional team members, and assists with managing overall dept. operations.

Requirements

  • BSN degree
  • current WA State RN License
  • minimum two years professional acute care or critical care nursing work experience

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the management of overall Census and Staffing Dept. operations.
  • Assesses patient care needs across units/departments and determines required staffing levels in collaboration with team members.
  • Assists staffing office team members as needed in making assignments efficiently, according to policy, with consideration of patient need, skill level of personnel and cost containment and available resources.
  • With an understanding of general clinical condition of patients on units/departments, utilizes information to make appropriate changes in resources as indicated.
  • Reprioritizes and re-assesses resources need continuously throughout the shift and gathers timely, appropriate information to guide decisions.
  • Makes decisions regarding distribution of resources after evaluation of unit needs, patient acuity, patient flow and staff readiness.
  • Assists in the management of problem solving to maintain safe, acceptable quality of patient care.
  • Communicates pertinent information to appropriate individuals consistently and in a timely manner.
  • Consistently demonstrates and promotes effective staffing strategies.
