Do you possess flexibility, proactivity, approachability, a knack for problem-solving, and a good sense of humor? Are you seeking a career where you can foster a positive working environment and enhance employee relations? If so, you’ve found the right place! Wood Rodgers, a leading private engineering consulting firm, is hiring an assistant planner to join our Urban Planning Department Team. We believe urban planning involves all aspects of improving our communities from land development to transportation, community and neighborhood design, parks and recreation, and environmental protection. Working with land development clients, our Urban Planning Team is responsible for taking various residential, commercial, recreational and industrial projects from conceptual design and application through public approvals and has extensive experience collaborating with staff from cities, counties, and other public agencies. Candidates can anticipate working primarily on private land development projects to help secure approvals for master-planned communities, tentative subdivision maps, specific plans, and similar planning entitlement projects. Work tasks typically include preparing site plans, residential subdivision layouts, tentative maps, and land use exhibits, responding to agency comments in written format, preparing rendered graphics and illustratives, writing specific plan and master plan documents, and conducting similar tasks that support a project’s entitlement effort. Candidates should be comfortable preparing hand sketches and working with a variety of software applications including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint). This is a staffed, hourly, non-exempt position.
