Bring your energy to DTE. Together, we can achieve great things. Bluewater Renewables LLC is a landfill gas to energy facility located in Smiths Creek, MI at the Smiths Creek landfill. The facility utilizes (2) CAT 3520 reciprocating engines used to drive (2) generators that each produce 1.6 MW of electricity. Westside Gas Producers, LLC is a landfill gas to renewable natural gas (RNG) processing facility that utilizes landfill gas at the Waste Management landfill in Three Rivers, MI. The facility has an inlet capacity is 4.5 MMSCFD and utilizes the Krysol process to purify landfill gas into pipeline quality gas. WSD operations are responsible for GCCS maintenance and expansion. The selected canddate will primarily work out of the Westside location while also providing support to operations at Blue Water.Job SummaryLocation: Three Rivers, MI To lead and supervise the operations group at assigned sites to deliver operational and financial results in accordance with commitments made in the budgeting process. To effectively merge routine operations with asset management responsibilities thereby optimizing financial results while meeting safety, environmental and company growth objectives.Duties include proactive leadership and development of team to reinforce DTE’s Service Keys: Safe, Caring, Dependable, and Efficient while also leading continuous improvement and maintenance, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and developing employee culture conducive to a healthy work/life balance. The employee will be required to operate and maintain a DOT regulated pipeline. Employee will be subject to random drug screening during employment per DOT PHMSA requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years progressive experience in a gas processing facility, power generation, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment
Understanding of the operation and maintenance of plant equipment, including the importance of ensuring high availability, reliability, and efficiency
Working knowledge of process equipment and systems
Understanding of energy efficiency practices and energy conservation techniques
Knowledge of the regulatory processes under which the facility operates
Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple simultaneous activities
Problem solving and decision-making skills; continuous improvement knowledge skills and abilities
Ability to communicate with all levels of staff and management clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel
Familiarity with email, scheduling, time reporting software applications
Proven ability to take tasks, assignments, and projects from start to completion without significant supervision
General understanding of income statements and the fiscal impact of operational and maintenance decisions at the facility
Ability to cover work shifts with extra/irregular hours and participate in on callout rotation
Required to respond to plant upset conditions (call-outs) outside of normal business hours, work unscheduled overtime, work alternative shift schedules and may occasionally be required to travel to other work locations (travel expense reimbursed within policy limits). Scheduled or pre-approved overtime is compensated on a straight time basis

Responsibilities

Ability to independently operate the facility, perform maintenance activities and trouble shooting
Develop and update as applicable, all training materials, standard work instructions (SWIs) and operating procedures in coordination with leadership, OEMs and Engineering and train additional technicians for independent operation
Participates in and directs day-to-day operation and maintenance activities
Review and approve time and manage team member performance cycles in compliance with DTE Biomass Policies
Primary liaison with the customer or host site on matters pertaining to daily operations including the scheduling of production levels
Ensures the facility is operated in a safe and environmentally responsible manner in compliance with the core values of DTE Energy and all local, state, and federal regulations
Supports the annual O&M budget development with the Plant Manager, including production forecasting in coordination with DTE Biomass leadership.
Controls expenditures to ensure costs remain within budget
Schedules and coordinates major maintenance and contractor activity to coincide with the production requirements of the customer
Prepares periodic status reports that describe operating performance, issues, and forecasts of future performance
Implements a planned maintenance program consisting of predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance activities documenting such activities using work orders in the designated CMMS
Conducts or arranges for periodic training for all plant personnel covering technical, safety, environmental and supervisory topics as appropriate
Ensures that all employees and contractors abide by established policies and procedures pertaining to plant safety and environmental stewardship
Works with Plant Manager, Regional Operations Manager and Director of Operations to share and implement best practices throughout the organization
