About The Position

North Carolina Connections Academy seeks a highly capable and results‑driven educational leader to serve as Assistant Principal (K–12). This role provides leadership and operational support across all grade levels, partnering closely with the School Leader to ensure effective school operations, staff supervision, student accountability, and faithful implementation of the virtual instructional model. The Assistant Principal plays a key role in advancing academic outcomes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a consistent, student‑ and family‑centered school culture in a statewide virtual environment. This position supports grades K–12 and reports directly to the School Leader. School Summary North Carolina Connections Academy is a public virtual school serving students across the state. The school delivers a personalized learning experience through the Connections Academy model, emphasizing strong family partnerships, academic rigor, and equitable access to instruction and student support services. The virtual environment provides flexibility for students while maintaining high expectations for engagement, accountability, and achievement.

Requirements

  • Active North Carolina Principal or Assistant Principal license
  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience
  • Strong operational, compliance, and organizational background
  • Ability to travel for testing and school events as required
  • Technological proficiency and ability to work effectively in a virtual environment

Nice To Haves

  • Virtual school or charter school experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of the school’s mission, vision, and School Improvement Plan
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate instructional staff to ensure instructional quality and accountability
  • Oversee student attendance processes, enrollment compliance, and related data systems
  • Monitor and enforce compulsory attendance requirements in alignment with North Carolina law
  • Support dropout prevention, re‑engagement, and intervention efforts
  • Supervise transcript review processes and ensure accurate credit entry
  • Oversee Welcome Calls and student onboarding processes
  • Support state testing implementation and participation tracking
  • Support professional development initiatives for instructional and support staff
  • Assist with budget oversight and operational logistics as assigned
  • Serve as a liaison with Enrollment, Materials Management, and Technical Support teams
  • Stay current on North Carolina laws, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
