Responsibilities

  • Act ethically and professionally in personal conduct, relationships with others, decision-making, stewardship of the school’s resources, and all other aspects of leadership.
  • Demonstrate and maintain the promotion of the vision and mission of the school to elevate the academic development and well-being of all learners.
  • Collaborate with the Principal to ensure the effective operation of all school activities and functions and maintain systems that promote productivity, learner learning, learner success, and school security.
  • Collaborate with school staff to implement the learner code of conduct and establish guidelines for proper learner conduct, disciplinary policies, and school crisis procedures to foster the safety of learners, school personnel, stakeholders, learner information, and school property; provide leadership in the event of such happenings and act quickly to stop possible breaches of safety.
  • Supervise the instructional programs of the school, evaluate lesson plans and observe classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with effective learning and child growth and development. Encourage use of technology in the classroom.
  • Assist with managing and coordinating the supervision of extended school day programming and extracurricular activities, the selection of club sponsors and coaches, the approval of all school-sponsored activities, and administrative attendance at school-related activities and events during and outside school hours.
  • Assist with the management of the school’s materials, equipment, device inventory, and fiscal resources in a responsible and ethical manner, engaging in effective budgeting, decision-making, and accounting practices.
  • Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with learners, parents and school personnel. Serve as a role model for learners, dressing professionally, demonstrating the importance of learning, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in the education profession. Encourage all teachers to do the same.
  • Notify immediately the Principal, appropriate personnel, and agencies when there is evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severed medical or social conditions, potential suicide or learners appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances.
  • Keep the Principal advised of employees not meeting employment standards.
  • Keep the staff informed and conduct staff meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
  • Maintain an effective inventory system for all school supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain procedures that create and maintain attractive, organized, functional, healthy, clean, and safe facilities.
  • Assume responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of learners, employees and visitors.
  • Follow established guidelines regarding drills for emergencies and disasters.
  • Monitor and supervise all school-related services including, but not limited to, custodial and maintenance services, student services, testing administration, food services, and transportation services.
  • Collaborate with school staff to ensure required audits, reports, schedules, calendars, and documentation are completed in a timely manner and that required confidentiality is maintained.
  • Collaborate with school staff to develop, implement, and evaluate the instructional programs and activities at the assigned school and ensure that learning goals, instructional materials, equipment, and curriculum are aligned with District, state, and federal academic standards.
  • Initiate programs to carry out the goals and development of the school improvement plan and assist with overseeing the academic and behavior structures and teams; provide feedback to stakeholders on goals and progress of improvement.
  • Ensure all learners demonstrate learning growth through a variety of ongoing progress monitoring data as evidenced by learner performance and growth on local, statewide, and other applicable assessments; promote the effective use of data analysis with school personnel for all learner subgroups and provide coaching to improve student learning and minimize or eliminate achievement gaps.
  • Develop and support open and productive working relationships among school personnel to build professional capacity, improve instructional practice driven by standards-aligned content, and improve curricular articulation and enrollment management.
  • Assist the Principal with recruiting, hiring, supervision, and development of school-based personnel, conducting performance evaluations of faculty and staff, and making reappointment recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the Principal to assign school personnel to roles, responsibilities, and projects that optimize their professional capacity to address all learners’ learning needs and enable them to work as a system to focus on providing evidence-based intervention, acceleration, and enrichment.
  • Build professional capacity to support and improve instruction practices and coach the development of personnel’s knowledge and skills by providing access to differentiated, need-based opportunities for growth, guided by understanding of professional learning strategies.
  • Conduct staff meetings as instructed and utilize appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals and groups to task accomplishment, inform them of policy changes, resolve potential and existing conflicts, and deliver timely, actionable, and ongoing feedback about practices, all in collaboration with the school Principal.
  • Ensure that the school Principal is kept informed of school happenings, progress, achievements, and issues as needed.
  • Utilize appropriate technologies and other forms of communication to counsel, communicate, and partner with parents/guardians, learners, and families on learner expectations and academic performance while modeling respectful communication practices between school personnel and all stakeholders.
  • Maintain positive public relations and community presence for the school and its programs by collaborating with the Principal to develop community involvement programs; maintain high visibility and accessibility on the school campus and at all school-related activities and events.
  • Recognize learners, staff, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders for contributions and engagements that enhance the school community and contribute to the vision and mission of the school.
  • Leverage collaboration and stakeholder input to communicate with faculty, staff, parents/guardians, learners and the community to ensure they are well-informed.
  • Keep abreast of current research, trends, and best practices in K-12 education and attend meetings, trainings, Professional Learning Community(PLC) meetings, and other events as required to enhance professional development.
  • Establish schedules and procedures for the supervision of learners in non-classroom areas (including before and after school).
  • Maintain visibility with learners, teachers, and parents.
  • Communicate regularly with parents so as to create a cooperative relationship for learner success.
  • Use effective presentation skills when addressing learners, staff, parents, and the community including appropriate vocabulary and examples, clear and legible visuals, and articulate speech.
  • Complete in a timely fashion all records and reports as required. Maintain accurate attendance records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
