About The Position

This on campus position would require teaching a variety of courses including but not limited to: Principles of Accounting I, Principles of Accounting II, Intermediate Accounting I, Intermediate Accounting II, Cost Accounting I, Cost Accounting II, Federal Tax I, Federal Tax II, Accounting Information Systems, Advanced Accounting, Auditing, Forensic Accounting, Sustainability Accounting, and other courses as needed. Delivery methods include teaching in the classroom and online to undergraduate and graduate students. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student club advising, involvement in department projects, assessment data collection, and activities representing the department at campus-wide recruiting events, and participation in campus committees.  Duties also include contribution to student growth and development, participation in department and institutional activities, evaluation of student performance, engagement in scholarly activities, and participation in service to the University and community.  SMSU, in its commitment to meeting the service needs of the region, expects faculty to engage in regional service, education or study as part of their community service responsibility

Requirements

  • Ph.D., DBA in Accounting from accredited schools (e.g., AACSB, ACBSP, or IACBE accredited). Considerations will be made for applicants in ABD status and expected to receive their Ph.D. or DBA from accredited schools within one academic year of appointment.
  • Consideration will be made for applicants with an MS in Accounting and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license through a state board of accountancy
  • Prior experience in teaching and developing accounting courses listed in position description.
  • Demonstrate teaching effectiveness to deliver courses via in-person, online, and hybrid formats.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and business/community groups, including but not limited to participating in department accreditation events, student club advising, etc.
  • Applicants should have superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work and teach and be accessible to students on campus during the weekdays.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience in accounting courses listed in the position description at the graduate level.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching courses in Forensic Accounting and Income Taxation.
