About The Position

This position is a 12-month, full-time Principal Faculty position in the Division of Physician Assistant Education. This position is primarily in the clinical education phase of the program. This position reports to (supervisor): Division Head and Program Director, Physician Assistant Education Function/Duties of Position In support of the PA Program curriculum, the faculty member will: The principal faculty will work closely with the clinical education team to promote program success with a strong focus on the clinical phase. Participate as a lecturer/small group facilitator /course director throughout the curriculum, teaching in areas of expertise and program need as assigned by the Program Director Participate in the ongoing schedule of periodic site visits to evaluate students on clinical rotation and the supervision provided by clinical preceptors as assigned by the Program Director. Participate in the grading of student assignments and evaluation of student academic and professional development. As a member of the faculty of the PA Program: Review and revise as necessary the mission statement, goals, and competencies for the program. Provide student instruction in the academic and clinical phases of the program. Evaluate student performance and assure the availability of remedial instruction. Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate curriculum. Evaluate the program by participating in the program’s ongoing self-assessment, analysis, and accreditation processes. Provide academic advising support to students throughout the educational program. Participate in the selection of applicants for admission to the PA program. Participate on program committees as assigned by the Program Director, such as the Progress and Promotion Committee, Admissions Selection Committee, Curriculum Committee and other ad-hoc committees as necessary. Participate in state and national PA organizations as necessary to promote the program and the profession. Represent the PA program through service on committees at the University level as required. Pursue faculty development in activities outside of the program such as clinical practice or scholarly activities agreed upon by the Program Director and the individual. Perform other duties as determined by the Program Director from time to time. Of note, the Principal Faculty must not participate as a health care provider for students in the program, except in an emergency situation.

Requirements

  • PA from an accredited academic institution.
  • At least 3 years of clinical practice.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • If a PA, current NCCPA certification.
  • If a PA, Eligibility for licensure in the state of Oregon.
