About The Position

The Division of Social Work at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position on the Laramie campus, starting in August 2026. We are particularly interested in applicants who want to be part of a small but diverse faculty that is energized to enhance and expand its programs, with a focus on advancing human rights and dignity and serving rural communities. Persons with said commitment and expertise in teaching generalist and advanced generalist practice at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels are encouraged to apply; also, persons with a special interest in teaching undergraduate and graduate social work policy courses are especially encouraged to apply. The Division of Social Work offers a Generalist BSW program and an Advanced Generalist MSW program, enrolling approximately 50 undergraduate and 60 graduate students. The MSW program offers two flexible options to meet the needs of students across the state. The full-time MSW option, based in Laramie, utilizes a hybrid model that combines distance education with intensive face-to-face weekend classes. Additionally, there is a part-time option housed at the University of Wyoming Casper Campus, which also follows the hybrid format with weekend classes and distance learning. Both options provide flexible learning opportunities while maintaining a balance of distance and in-person instruction. The BSW program offers traditional on-campus programs in Laramie and Casper. The Division has a commitment to scholarship, education, and practice rooted in the principles and values of social justice. The University of Wyoming is the state’s only public provider of baccalaureate and graduate education and is a Carnegie-designated doctoral university/high research activity. UW combines major university benefits and small school advantages.
