About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to join our Construction Management teams in our New Jersey Transportation group. The selected candidate will support railroad bridge transportation projects, working closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams. This role offers the opportunity to oversee project delivery, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience with New Jersey Transportation clients

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent written communications and presentation abilities in internal project settings with, the senior management team, external project stakeholders including senior client management leadership
  • 6 plus years of experience in resident engineering, construction management, project management, engineering and related fields is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, staff supervision, strong negotiation skills and conflict resolution abilities
  • Software proficiency in FACS
  • Certifications: PE,CCM, NICET, PMP, DBIA

Responsibilities

  • Oversee field construction inspectors during the project construction phase, including preparation of daily work schedules, site safety monitoring, technical oversight, and quality assurance
  • Coordinate and supervise construction management activities and assignments of direct reporting staff to ensure efficient project execution
  • Interface with contractors to coordinate construction activities, resolve constructability issues, and maintain aggressive project schedules
  • Evaluate and validate contractor change order requests against contract documents, negotiate costs and schedule impacts, and make recommendations to senior management
  • Perform inspection and resident engineering activities on railway bridge projects, ensuring compliance with construction site safety standards and operational requirements
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, manage budgets, and track costs to ensure timely completion and financial accountability
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including government agencies, utility companies, and local communities to ensure smooth project execution
  • Implement quality control processes and ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and environmental and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders
