Position Overview: As an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher working with children ages 6 weeks to 3 years, you will: Provide developmentally appropriate care and education in a nurturing environment. Foster growth in key developmental areas: social, emotional, nutritional, and physical. Partner with families to support children’s learning and individual needs. Maintain a low teacher-to-child ratio (4:1) in classrooms capped at 8 children. Play a key role in our federally funded Early Head Start (EHS) program, supporting qualifying families with vital early learning services.

Requirements

  • Experience working in infant-toddler settings with diverse families and children of all abilities.
  • Knowledge of child safety, nutrition, and inclusive early learning practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Must be able to successfully complete child protective services and criminal background checks.
  • A successful completion of a TB Risk Assessment and health exam is required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Head Start Performance Standards and VA Child Care Licensing
  • Bilingual skills
  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration Training (MAT)
