About The Position

LMI is seeking an experienced Associate to join the Alternative Credit group within Liberty’s $22bn Global Alternative Markets platform. The team invests across private credit and opportunistic equity structures spanning consumer, commercial, residential, and structured credit markets. Investments include whole loans, warehouse facilities, asset-backed securities, and structured credit as well as preferred equity and platform financings. The role offers meaningful responsibility across the full lifecycle of investments—sourcing, underwriting, execution, and portfolio management—with direct exposure to senior investment leadership and the opportunity to deploy capital across the capital structure. Title/level commensurate with experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with strong academic credentials
  • 3–7 years of relevant experience in specialty finance, private credit, structured credit, investment banking, private equity, or other alternative investment / financial institutions
  • Strong underwriting and financial modeling skills; advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to synthesize complex financial, market, and operational diligence into clear investment views and recommendations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Strong ownership mentality, judgment, and intellectual curiosity
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach; effective cross-functional partner
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with asset-backed structures (warehouse/ABS), fund finance, or platform investing is a plus
  • Comfort reviewing legal documents is a plus as well

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and execute private credit, structured investments, and select equity / hybrid structures across asset classes and transaction types
  • Source and screen new opportunities; develop investment thesis and relative value views across markets and structures
  • Lead diligence workstreams, including financial modeling, collateral/cash flow analysis, downside and recovery analysis, and structuring
  • Coordinate third-party diligence and manage execution timelines to close
  • Prepare and present investment committee materials and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Monitor and manage portfolio performance
  • Partner closely with Legal, Finance, Accounting, and Risk to support investment execution and ongoing oversight
  • Contribute to tools and infrastructure for portfolio reporting, analytics, and process improvement
  • Collaborate across LMI teams to share market insights and support broader platform initiatives
