The Associate Attorney is responsible for managing the legal process for accounts referred to the Legal Department—from initial review through final resolution. This role handles litigation activities within assigned jurisdictions, ensuring all actions are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable laws and court rules.   • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school required.
  • Active license to practice law in the State of Colorado required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Trial experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience or familiarity with laws and regulations related to: FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, and HIPAA Bankruptcy Workers’ compensation Personal injury Contracts and insurance Medicare/Medicaid

Responsibilities

  • Review accounts to determine whether litigation is appropriate and identify any legal or compliance concerns.
  • Draft, review, and file legal pleadings and documents including: Complaints, summonses, and answers Motions and proposed orders Discovery and disclosures Garnishments and post-judgment filings Satisfactions and revivals
  • Respond to disputes, motions, and correspondence from consumers or opposing counsel.
  • Appear in court for return dates, hearings, and other required appearances.
  • Prepare for and participate in trials, mediations, hearings, and pre-trial conferences, including legal research and case strategy preparation.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel, consumers, and internal teams to support resolutions or settlement efforts when appropriate.
  • Maintain professional relationships with court personnel and ensure a high standard of conduct and representation.
  • Identify potential compliance issues and partner with leadership to resolve concerns.
  • Support other attorneys as needed, including assisting with coverage for court appearances.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by supporting policies, procedures, and standardized templates used across the Legal Department.
