About The Position

Sanofi is recruiting for a Biorepository Center of Excellence (BCOE) Associate Coordinator to ensure the local implementation of the new Biosamples Management (BSM) processes in Waltham site in coordination with Sanofi Pharma. This role is accountable for oversight of all local BSM related topics on site through interaction with relevant local stakeholders and training of Waltham personnel on best practices for handling of Human Biological Samples (HBS). The BCOE Associate Coordinator will coordinate local BCOE inventories in a performant and cost-efficient way, in compliance with global BCOE governance and local regulations and in close collaboration with local functions and external storage provider. This is achieved through coordination with GI Sample Management to obtain information on backlog of physical inventory in freezers and cold rooms, extraction of metadata from agreements or databases (i.e. LIMS) and communication with Azenta for off site storage and data wrangling on the input of samples to the BSM program. Approximately 50% of time is expected to dedicate to BCOE-related activities, remainder of time will be dedicated to support the Biosamples Lead(s) in coordination of logistical operations, including study startup activities, human biological sample label creation, sample management activities, testing, purchasing, and import of related reagents to support clinical testing. Requirements

  • BS degree in life sciences, or MS in immunology, microbiology, virology or biochemistry preferred.
  • Bachelor's in Life Science with 2 years' experience, or Masters' in Life Science with 1 years' experience, preferably in pharma R&D.
  • Understanding of GXP practices and procedures required.
  • Familiarity with clinical or sample databases and inventory management required.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication, organizational and team management skills.
  • Proven ability to implement new procedures/processes.

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary local contact, subject matter expert and key interface for all BCOE related topics on site, interact with relevant local stakeholders and BP, directly interact with scientists on optimized BSM workflows and advice and train scientists on best practices for handling of BSM.
  • Coordinate local BCOE inventories in a performant and cost-efficient way, in compliance with global BCOE governance and local regulations and in close collaboration with local functions and external storage provider.
  • Install processes and guide scientists as BSM expert to support acquisition of biosamples including sample receipt and registration, support transfer requests of biosamples internally and to external partners and coordinate shipment of requested biomaterials with logistics department ensuring compliance.
  • Coordinate off-site storage with Azenta, data wrangling as needed, support BioSource deployment with scientists, be the key user for BioSource onsite.
  • Perform first level compliance check to ensure correct use based on sample type and local and global rules and regulations e.g., commercial licenses and ethical use, coordinate more specific questions with Global BCOE Compliance expert.
  • Extract legally relevant information from contracts and agreements as Metadata (license/contract conditions, geographic coverage, period of validation, limitations of use and distribution) and enter extracted metadata into BioSource Sample Management System
  • Manage HBS disposal: At retention period end/or sample expiration including Request disposal authorization in BioSource and ensure data integrity of the database.
