We’re seeking a talented Associate Corporate Counsel to support our rapidly evolving original programming slates. In this role, you’ll be a critical legal partner supporting our scripted television series and feature-length motion picture groups, managing all legal aspects during development to production. You'll dive into intricate legal frameworks for television and motion picture projects, analyzing and crafting agreements to protect against legal risks while empowering storytellers to create compelling programming.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • 2+ years of legal experience
  • Active membership in California State Bar

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Media & Entertainment Law (Books, Studios, Content Rights, etc.)
  • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • Can communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage a high volume of complex legal projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently while effectively supporting and collaborating with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Manage chain-of-title across projects and evaluate and resolve complex rights issues.
  • Structure, draft, and negotiate a high volume of agreements for scripted series and motion picture projects, including rights option/purchase and acquisition agreements, key above-the-line agreements such as writer, producer and director agreements, first look and overall agreements, production services agreements, and co-production agreements.
  • Analyze issues, interpret contracts and provide thoughtful legal advice to creative, business affairs, production, marketing, publicity and other teams on potential risks and issues involving a wide range of legal areas, including intellectual property, defamation, publicity and privacy rights, guilds, labor and employment, public policy, safety, and regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Develop robust legal frameworks, processes and policies that support creative innovation.
