Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/innovative-medicine Purpose: J&J Innovative Medicine is seeking an exceptional Associate Director, Learning Architecture to serve as a strategic design authority and trusted advisor to J&J IM North America Learning Excellence teams. This role, part of the Learning Excellence Organization (LEO), is critical to ensuring learning solutions are intentionally designed, performance driven, and aligned to business outcomes that ultimately serve patients. As a Learning Architect, you will lead the front-end definition, end-to-end learning experience design, and learning strategy for a variety of initiatives, partnering closely with Learning Business Partners (LBPs), Program/Learning Execution Managers, content creators, and vendors. You will ensure that learning solutions are grounded in clear problem definition, behavior change, and measurable impact. Our work is grounded in the 6 Disciplines of Breakthrough Learning (the 6Ds), with a strong emphasis on learning transfer, application, and sustained performance improvement. Success in this role requires strong learning design capability, the ability to influence without formal authority, and comfort operating at both the strategic and execution levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required; Masters in Learning, Instructional Design, or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in Learning & Development, with a strong foundation in Learning Architecture, Instructional Design, or Learning Experience Design
  • Experience leading facilitated needs analysis work sessions with multiple stakeholders to uncover root needs
  • Basic experience in content authoring tools and/or prototyping tools
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all organizational levels
  • Success in this role requires the individual to be a self-starter, skilled communicator, and dot-connector that is both creative and customer focused

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Experience in commercial roles preferred (sales, sales leadership, account management, marketing, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Learning Business Partners (LBP) and/or Program / Learning Execution Managers (PM/LEM) to conduct a thorough needs analysis, clearly defining the business problem, expected performance outcomes, target behaviors, success measures, and learning scope
  • Architect learner-centric, evidence-based learning experiences using the right modality mix for a modern learner, grounded in adult learning theory
  • Design the full learning ecosystem, including pre-work, core experiences, pull-through, reinforcement, sustainment, and measurement strategy
  • Develop high-level design documents, learning journeys, storyboards and prototypes. On a project-by-project basis, may also be responsible for developing detailed design and partnering with a Developer/Creator (internal or agency) to develop the content
  • Facilitate design working sessions with stakeholders to align on learning approach, validate assumptions, and gain commitment to performance outcomes
  • Oversee and/or support teams (internal or agency) conducting detailed design and development activities to build out learning solutions, ensuring development adheres to LEO learning standards and design intent
  • Act as a connector across LEO (Digital, Measurement, Creation) to create cohesive, high-quality solutions
  • Design learning effectiveness strategies aligned to business outcomes, including measures of application and behavior change
  • Analyze feedback and performance data to inform continuous improvement and provide clear, actionable insights to stakeholders
  • Strategize adoption/sustainment plans to ensure learning translates to on-the-job impact
  • Stay current on learning experiences design trends, technologies, and best practices, translating into practical application for J&J IM Learning Architects should be prepared/equipped to service a diverse set of stakeholders ranging from therapeutic area learning teams to leadership and marketing capability teams, aligned to our organizational pillars.
