About The Position

Focus Partners Wealth is seeking an Associate Institutional Consultant. This advisor plays an integral role on Focus Partners Wealth Institutional Services Team as we deliver exceptional Outsourced Chief Investment Officer services to a growing and diverse group of small to mid-size institutional clients, predominantly nonprofit entities. In partnership with our Institutional Consultants, the Associate Consultant focuses on day-to-day client service and assists with cash and portfolio management while supporting our client reporting/meeting workflows and helping directly, in client-facing ways, with client meetings and projects. The Associate Consultant is also directly involved in the new business development process by tracking the team’s pipeline, helping the team respond to requests for proposals and preparing new business presentations. Depending on the opportunity, the Associate Consultant participates directly in new business presentations. Focus provides team members the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule. Our hybrid model is defined as 3 days in office work required per week, while giving team members the option to work remotely 2 days per week, or as assigned by their team leader.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in financial services required
  • Series 65 within 120 days of employment
  • Collaborative Team Member with a passion for learning, investments, and the drive to advocate for clients and colleagues
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize deliverables in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Comfort with and demonstrated competency in working with accounting/trading software solutions and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with RIAs and Independent Financial Advisors preferred
  • Prior working relationships with investment managers and custodians preferred

Responsibilities

  • Consistent, proactive, and responsive client service including: Support Institutional Consultant(s) with portfolio construction and management, client projects, client cash flow management. Lead team’s processing of audit requests, charitable gifts to client accounts, custodial account access, and key records and relational data in Salesforce.
  • Client meetings: Support Institutional Consultant(s) in planning and preparing content for client meetings, participate directly in delivering content for client meetings, and assist with client meeting follow up. Lead the drafting of client meeting minutes, manage related record keeping and facilitate the proactive scheduling of client meetings.
  • Institutional reporting: Support Institutional Consultant(s) with all institutional reporting with a focus on gathering and processing reporting data and related content, compiling and proofing report packages and related record keeping.
  • Investment strategy: Serves as one of the team’s primary analysts, supporting the work of the Institutional Consultant(s).
  • New business development: Support the Consultant(s) in replying to RFPs/RFIs by helping answer questions, proofing content, and conducting analysis work. Maintain core content needed for new business development firm-level data and standard answers/past replies. Support Consultant(s) in preparing new business presentations, maintain core content for these presentations/past decks, and, where appropriate, participate directly in new business presentations.
  • Onboarding new clients: Support the Consultant(s) with the Discovery Process, conducting analysis work, preparing meeting content, and as needed, assisting with meetings. Lead the team’s work, in collaboration with Client Service, establish new accounts and the related custodial paperwork, keep meeting notes and manage key records and relational data in Salesforce.
  • Additional responsibilities: With the Consultant(s), proactively engage in our ongoing commitment to develop our service offering, improve client experience and grow the business. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of and curiosity about our investment philosophy and ability to communicate our story with conviction in clear ways. Establish collegial relationships with a diverse group of advisors, investment strategy leaders, and other firm resources to support the practice. Ability to establish consultative and service-oriented relationships with our clients’ staff and volunteer leaders.
