About The Position

As an Associate Intern with the Americas Team, you will support research, analysis and delivery across regional and country-level work. Interns will contribute to active government engagements, policy development, and internal strategy work, while gaining exposure to how TBI partners with governments to deliver impact. This recruitment is for up to four (4) Associate Intern positions, structured as follows: Two (2) Regional Interns supporting TBI’s cross-country initiatives in either Latin America or the Caribbean, based in Washington, DC (USA). Two (2) Country Team Interns supporting TBI’s work in either the Dominican Republic or Guatemala, based in Washington, DC (USA) or in-country, if eligible.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong interest in politics, public policy, and current affairs across the Americas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively and support multiple workstreams.
  • Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail and curiosity for data and evidence.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in diverse, multicultural teams.
  • Professionalism, discretion, integrity, and comfort working in sensitive and ambiguous environments.
  • Confidence engaging with colleagues and stakeholders at different levels of seniority.
  • Business fluency in English is required for all Intern positions.
  • Business fluency in Spanish is required for the Country Team Intern positions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-quality research and analysis to support advisory work with governments across the Americas.
  • Develop written outputs, including briefing notes, memos, presentations, and background research for internal and external use.
  • Support project teams with planning, coordination, and tracking activities and deliverables.
  • Contribute to policy research across priority thematic areas relevant to the Americas region.
  • Engage with colleagues across TBI’s global network, collaborating across teams and disciplines.
  • Support meetings, workshops, events, and roundtables with government counterparts and partners.
  • Supporting scoping teams as they assess potential opportunities for TBI to engage with new governments and senior leaders in the region.
  • Producing research and analysis to inform regional strategy, growth, and expansion efforts.
  • Provide remote support to country teams conducting policy-specific research, data analysis, and designing outputs for clients, including presentations, reports and briefs.
  • Developing tools and systems to support effective program management and delivery (e.g. dashboards, trackers, frameworks).
  • Supporting engagement with partner organizations, multilateral institutions, and other stakeholders based in Washington, DC.
  • Supporting their assigned in-country project team in the team’s day-to-day engagement with government counterparts.
  • Conducting country-specific political, economic, and policy research to inform advisory work.
  • Assisting with preparation for government meetings, workshops, and high-level engagements.
  • Contributing to policy design, delivery planning, and implementation support alongside government partners.
