About The Position

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Associate Nurse Manager (ANM) is responsible for managing and supervising activities in an assigned nursing area, on a specific shift. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times. Job Functions: Maintains current management knowledge base. Maintains an effective professional relationship with all constituencies. Actively involved in professional development of clinical staff through assisting in validations and mock codes. Supports hospital policies and procedures. Collaborates with others to utilizes available clinical staff appropriately to provide for optimal patient care, while maintaining within acuity/staffing matrix guidelines. Interacts appropriately with all customers to provide for prompt problem resolution. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Assists with interviewing and hiring process as requested. Coordinates new employee orientation/education/on-the-job training. Assists with scheduling/staffing issues as requested. Assists with patient issues/concerns/Kronos as required. Assists with disciplinary action when requested. Serves as resource person to other staff. Available as a resource during crisis staffing and weekend coverage as needed. Conducts chart audits/wound assessments to collect, analyze and report data as directed and give staff feedback as needed. Serves as Nursing Supervisor as assigned. Has the authority and responsibility to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, discipline, direct, or recommend such actions by using independent judgment with Manager/Director oversight. Completes and conducts employee performance evaluations based on direct observation of their employee’s job performance with Manager/Director oversight. Granted authority to perform the supervisory duties and are held accountable for performing such duties. Conducts nurse leader rounding and employee rounding. Assigned and assist as super user for completion of incident report. Utilizes A.I.D.E.T. with all patient interactions. Serves in Charge Nurse/Team Leader role as assigned and attends day and night shift huddles. Accountable for attending leadership meetings/trainings as assigned and maintain activity in the LEM. Participates in hospital-wide and unit activities. Contributes to the development of a plan of care. Implements and monitors nursing interventions. Provides timely, adequate teaching to patient/family/significant other. Consistently documents assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Meditech. Coordinates with interdisciplinary team to develop and/or implement patient care. Problem solves with the team to overcome identified barriers. Coordinates routine interdisciplinary team conference to review patient progress. Monitors patient progress and communicates information between patient, referrer, family, and interdisciplinary team. Influences the treatment approach when needed, as well as program development and enhancements. Actively participates in Quality Improvement Process. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in collecting and documenting clinical data, based on predetermined quality and outcome indicators developed by the interdisciplinary team. Coordinates patient/family needs assessment including physical, psychosocial, spiritual, financial and educational. Provides educational information, including but not limited to, treatment and procedures, orientation to the facility and staff and other related education as needed. Responsible for coordinating seamless care for both patient and the referring community, providing patient-centered care and maximizing outcomes by coordinating the care of patients from the onset of diagnosis through their entire care experience. Assumes all duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Requirements

  • Current licensure in the State of Ohio or if working in WV will need WV Licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Current BLS required.
  • Attend leadership classes/ Frontline 50.
  • Stroke Education is required during orientation, and may include, but not limited to, access to stroke policies, completion of on-line stroke module education, NIHSS, ASLS & T-PA administration.
  • ACLS within 1 year of employment required.
  • Maintains compliance in RQI required.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Manual dexterity, color vision and near visual acuity.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience preferred.
  • ASLS certification preferred upon hire.
  • BSN preferred.
