Growing together. Optum is seeking an Associate Patient Care Coordinator to join our growing team. At Optum, we are transforming healthcare nationally while providing physician-led care locally. Work with the largest care delivery organization in the world and start doing your life's best work. Schedule: Office is open seven days a week, 365 days a year. This role would consist of a 40- hour work week, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 am to 6:30 pm or until last patient leaves, Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 7:30 am to 4:30 pm or until last patient leaves. The schedule will be determined by the supervisor upon hire. Rotating Holidays and Weekends. Location: 327 Broad Street, Sumter SC 29150

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience
  • 1+ years of computer proficiency experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and as a team, and maintain good judgment and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience working in medical office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records
  • Knowledge EMR (ECW)
  • Knowledge of insurance carriers and managed care plans
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients
  • Verifies patient demographics and insurance information
  • Collects outstanding balances, co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurances
  • Checks patients out and schedules future appointments
  • Performs general clerical duties
  • Meets the communication needs of the patient/ family, practice providers, and practice staff
  • Participate in performance improvement activities
  • Greet patients in a professional and courteous manner
  • Directs patients to appropriate areas
  • Check-in' all patients, gives patient medical forms to complete and update if needed
  • Collecting payments, printing receipts, and posting payments
  • Scanning and filing patients’ information if needed
  • Reconciles cash drawer daily and send deposit to Department manager
  • Retrieve and sort mail into appropriate boxes
  • Sorts and documents any returned mail
  • Maintains a good working relationship with practice staff members
  • Performs all other duties assigned
  • Meets dress code standards: appearance is neat and clean
  • Completes annual/ monthly education requirements
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled
  • Completes work in a timely manner
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Ensures patient confidentiality
  • Complies with all practice policies and procedures.
  • Willing to work weekends in rotation and travel to either of the 2 Urgent Cares to fulfill the business needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
