About The Position

Founded in 1919 as Phototype and recently rebranded as the Olberding Brand Family, we are a family company focused on delivering the highest quality and client service in the graphics design, management and printing industry. We Design, Optimize and Protect Brands. Our clients are primarily consumer products companies and printers and we help them by delivering a broad range of services from brand strategy and packaging design, to adaptive design across various print and digital platforms, all the way to color management and the production of printing plates. With our world headquarters located in Cincinnati, we have over 450 employees throughout the United States and offices in Europe and Asia. The Associate Prepress Assembler is responsible for preparing press ready digital files for offset, gravure and flexo printers from a client approved art file. This will include trapping, color separations, imposition, stepping, printer’s marks, screening specs, curves, etc. The Associate Prepress Assembler maintains an effective and efficient workflow from the point the artwork is scheduled through proofing to delivery of final materials (HIPDF, Len/Tiff files, or final production files). In addition, the Associate Prepress Assembler must maintain direct and open communication with internal Account Managers, Production and Quality teams to assure the final file meets the client’s and printer’s specifications.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years experience in packaging graphics, design and/or prepress
  • Working knowledge of assembly editing software – Esko, Hybrid, Abobe
  • Understand consumer products packaging, creative design, production artwork and print services preferred
  • Knowledge of major printing methods (Flexo, Gravure, Offset)
  • Proficient in Apple operating systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro and Acrobat
  • BS or BA in Graphics Design/Production, Printing or similar degree preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Consumer product company knowledge or experience
  • Graphics production technology background or experience, a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work on CPG client jobs creating final press ready art files, which will include but not limited to: trapping, color separations, imposition, stepping, printer’s marks, screening specs, curves, etc.
  • Output color contract proofs depicting final layout for client approval
  • Verify final files meeting client’s graphic and printer specifications
  • Upload files for quality assurance
  • Maintain an effective comprehension of calibration, profiling and workflow procedures
  • Ensure accuracy on all orders to flow efficiently and effectively
  • Follow all standard operating procedures to assure client’s requirements are met
