About The Position

The Associate Product & Material Developer has a passion for developing apparel components and building vendor relationships. The candidate will use their technical material knowledge, strategic thinking and collaborative skills to deliver creative material and trim solutions for our Apparel collection. They will have strong understanding of textile and trim development as well as an understanding of the product creation process to ensure delivery of exceptional product for our customer. In addition, they will partner closely with our Asia product development team to ensure timely execution of material, trim, and color approvals as it relates to styles developed in that hemisphere. For Western Hemisphere product development, this role takes on direct communication with the factory to ensure timely development and production of styles. It may also involve supporting special projects, tracking testing requests, and participating in multiple meetings related to commercialization. Strong attention to detail and effective cross-team collaboration are essential to ensure seamless execution of tasks and adherence to timelines.

Requirements

  • Computer proficiency; Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), PLM (Product Life Management) system.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in the Apparel industry working on material, color, or trim development.

Responsibilities

  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivated to maintain accurate information in FLEX PLM.
  • Daily monitoring of emails and tracking charts to ensure timely follow-up on style development needs.
  • Technical materials knowledge, including yarns, knitting, weaving, dyeing, printing and finishing techniques. This includes knowledge of knits, wovens, ribs and prints
  • Knowledge of Trim development (techniques, technologies, and application).
  • Experience partnering with vendors to develop and test a material from inception to production.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects with support from manager to meet seasonal deadlines.
  • Understanding of digital color review, for Western Hemisphere materials.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to move with agility through ambiguity.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a diverse group.
