About the position

The Director of NIHC Interprofessional Practice and Education is responsible for overseeing the development, growth, implementation, and assessment of the interprofessional educational curriculum. The Director works closely with PNWU academic programs, the PNWU Simulation Center, and external institutional partners to ensure curricular activities align with accreditation requirements and strategic priorities. The Director works in parallel with the Director of NIHC Operations who manages the NIHC budget, policy and procedure development related to NIHC activities, and the delivery of the NICH curricular offerings and program outcomes assessment and reporting. The NIHC Director of Interprofessional Practice and Education reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. The Associate Professor of occupational therapy serves in the MSOT program under the direction of the Dean. The emphasis will be on the development of program objectives, goals, curriculum, policies and assessment including the clinical education component and other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development, implementation, and assessment of the interprofessional education curriculum and faculty and professional development programs on behalf of the NIHC.
  • Ensures Interprofessional Education (IPE) program components meet or exceed accreditation requirements for all contributing programs.
  • Represents the NIHC at local, regional, and national levels, including conferences, training sessions, and symposiums.
  • Assists the Director of NIHC Operations with annual reporting, strategic planning, budgeting, and alignment with the program’s mission and vision.
  • Chairs IPE advisory councils, ensuring effective program management.
  • Supports research and scholarly activities related to IPE.
  • Develops course materials in specialized area of expertise including writing course syllabi and developing appropriate instructional methods.
  • Teaches courses assigned in content area of expertise and meets program standards for student and peer evaluations.
  • Develops and administers student assessments including exams, quizzes, and assignments, as appropriate.
  • Enhances expertise in teaching content areas through continuing education, practice, and using current literature in teaching content.
  • Participates in ongoing curriculum and program assessment.
  • Meets all classes as scheduled; reports final grades at the designated time; has an appropriate number of office hours.
  • Maintains licensure and certification as appropriate.
  • Advises students.
  • Assists in the recruitment and admissions of students.
  • Attends school/college events including student orientation and commencement exercises.
  • Performs committee assignments at the school/college and university level.
  • Performs community service.
  • May be required to maintain clinical practice as appropriate.
  • Engages in scholarly activity and maintains an active research agenda.
  • Supervises and mentors student research.
  • Maintains professional development in area of research.

Requirements

  • Earned doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
  • Licensed or eligible for OT licensure in Washington State and a minimum of 3 years of practice.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an academic setting.
  • Documented expertise in area of teaching as well as delivery method.
  • Record of scholarly productivity commiserate with the level of Associate Professor.
  • Record of institutional and professional service commiserate with the level of Associate Professor.
