About The Position

This position provides the opportunity to gain significant research experience with an emphasis on cognitive behavior in an interdisciplinary lab environment to contribute to the project which aims to determine the molecular and circuit mechanisms of cognitive behavior and their dysregulation in brain disorders. Under direct supervision, performs experiments and procedures as assigned. The individual will assist with simple to moderately complex experiments using standard techniques in area of specialty assigned; maintains data/results of all experiments including mouse behavior testing, anatomical/histological analysis of rodent brains. May assign work to less experienced staff as required. Maintains inventory of all research supplies; prepares purchase orders for reagents and supplies.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in science or related field preferred, or combination of relevant research experience and education
• 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, conducts routine and standardized experiments using appropriate research techniques specific to subject matter of the research project.
• Analyzes and assists in interpreting laboratory results.
• Performs assays to support research studies.
• Maintains laboratory environment and assists in the upkeep of appropriate inventory; may include ordering of supplies.
• Logs and tests samples; prepares and submits laboratory materials and specimens for shipment.
• Assists in the collection, analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation.
• Performs other related duties.
