The Opportunity This position works out of our Columbus, OH location in the Nutrition Division. In Research & Development, our ambition is to provide innovative high-quality products, creating sustainable value, delivering superior user experience, and enhancing health outcomes at all stages of life. What You’ll Work On Leads protein functionality testing by managing sample organization, interpreting results, and delivering data‑driven conclusions to support product development activities. Help develop nutritional products for commercial launch in global markets by creating new formulations which will deliver improvements to product claims, comply with regulatory requirements and/or reduce product cost. Help plan and execute experimental designs to optimize the nutrient, microbiological, organoleptic and/or physical qualities of new and/or improved products while adhering to relevant internal and external constraints. Interpret test results and develop conclusions and action plans. Communication through verbal updates and written reports. Participate on and possibly present to cross-functional business teams including Marketing, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, Regulatory and Legal. Skills/Experience Requirements Beyond scientific skills, strong math, writing and verbal communication skills are required. The individual must be proactive in executing development steps and anticipating barriers to success. Experience with Design of Experiments, planning development strategies and interacting with suppliers is preferred. The candidate should be able to operate effectively in teams and collaborate with peers to accomplish project goals.

Requirements

  • Beyond scientific skills, strong math, writing and verbal communication skills are required.
  • The individual must be proactive in executing development steps and anticipating barriers to success.
  • Required BS in Food Science or related scientific field 3-7 years relevant experience.
  • Background in science and/or engineering.
  • Ability to communicate results at a technical level.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with desire and ability to work within a highly collaborative environment: work constructively, decisively, and collegially with external and internal customers, consumers, and key opinion leaders; closely collaborate with global teams and colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Design of Experiments, planning development strategies and interacting with suppliers is preferred.
  • Preferred: MS in Food Science or related scientific field with 0-3 years relevant experience.
  • Emphasis in food science, dairy chemistry, nutrition, emulsion stability, ingredient interactions, delivery systems for novel ingredients, or creating stable complex nutritional systems.
  • Strong scientific curiosity and enjoy experimentation to create innovative products.
  • Display innovative thinking, open to sharing ideas and willing to continuously learn.
  • Experience with data analysis software.
