The successful candidate will have a strong research track record in biology and be analytically minded, systematic, and embrace data-driven decision making. The scientist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across key Lilly therapeutic areas (e.g. neuroscience, cardiometabolic, immunology) to perform experiments to aid development of RNA oligonucleotide drug candidates for the next generation of RNA therapies.

Requirements

  • B.S. in biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or related field
  • 1+ years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, an academic laboratory, or similar settings
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in developing and working with in vivo models and assays to support drug discovery programs. Knowledge and understanding of drug delivery concepts is preferred.
  • Experience with surgical rodent models is preferred
  • Experience supporting interactions with CROs and external vendors is preferred
  • Ability to adapt and exercise flexibility for changing platform needs, workflows and projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and efficiency in collaborating across functional boundaries and in team environment
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, multitasking, desire to learn new techniques and contribute to innovative projects in a fast-paced working environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience in processing, organizing, analyzing and visualizing data and information from disparate sources and ability to extract insight from data
  • Familiar with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and analytical software associated with methods.

Responsibilities

  • Work with project team leads to design and plan in vivo experiments to support the preclinical characterization and evaluation of novel therapeutic molecules
  • Perform rodent handling and dosing, including but not limited to subcutaneous (SC), intravenous (IV) and intraperitoneal (IP) dosing
  • Perform tissue dissection, trimming and processing (e.g. RNA and DNA extraction), collect and process bodily fluids (e.g. blood, urine).
  • Design, perform and analyze assays interrogating gene expression and protein endpoints (e.g RT-qPCR, Western blot, JESS, ELISA)
  • Support technology development for improving the delivery of novel therapeutics to tissues of interest
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical challenges and provide scientific and technical input to project teams
  • Help design and complete experiments and perform data analysis
  • Provide written and verbal communication of work in lab reports and team meetings
  • Accurate recording of all practical work: completion of electronic notebook to Lilly procedure quality standards
  • General laboratory assistance, including ordering and receiving lab supplies, preparation of reagents, and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
