Role description: Collecting information and managing activities required to achieve compliance with BIM processes GEC Team - co-ordinating all activities required to produce BIM deliverables, e.g. upskilling, new developments etc Project Managers, BIM Managers, BIM Coordinators, BIM Modellers, Project Managers and external partners as well as the clients information managers Project Managers - engaging to collect information and provide reports and analysis to support delivery Business Unit Directors - assisting with the development of BIM delivery arrangements in line with BIM strategy Client BIM Stakeholders - agree project BIM objectives, communicate status of engineering solutions Job Purpose: Responsible for the implementation, management and delivery of BIM at a Business Unit Level including the line management and technical management of BIM resources In a practitioner capacity, is responsible for managing technical aspects of BIM production for major projects Apply the BIM processes and are capable of establishing and implementing a BIM Execution Plan (objectives, requirements and conditions) and a delivery strategy in conjunction with a client and delivery team Role accountabilities: Promote SHE good practice within team Work in collaboration with other design disciplines applying BIM solutions to ensure the integrity of the overall design Maintain strong working relationship with aligned Arcadis Global resources and ensures that local staff work effectively with Global Design colleagues Develop and maintain a good understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, of the client’s business and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to consolidate personal and company credibility in the industry Oversee the operational workload of the BIM resource including sub-contractors, ensuring BIM work is allocated appropriately and BIM resources are fully utilised Ensure compliance with Arcadis BIM standards and national BIM standards Deliver work that meet client and Arcadis requirements Provide technical advice to team members, to support them in their delivery on the project and in their professional development Manage the performance of BIM practitioners in the Business Unit, identifying and ensuring the resolution of any issues Provide technical BIM leadership at a Business Unit level Manage the production of, and quality assure BIM deliverables to ensure that they meet or exceed client expectations as well as Arcadis requirements, and that they comply with national standards and codes of practice Identify and select appropriate technology solutions and provide relevant information to allow informed business decisions and the delivery of value Compile and manage the resolution of technical software faults in conjunction with the IT team Work collaboratively with all design disciplines to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution Keep up to date with developments in the industry sector and with technical and legislative developments and seek out opportunities to develop a strong professional profile at a National level (e.g. conference presentations, publications and participation in technical committees) Maintain records of Continuing Professional Development and are able to make these available for audit by their professional institution Manage the BIM process supported by the necessary tools coach and guide parties in the implementation and application of BIM. Identify any bottlenecks in the strategic policy of the organization in the field of BIM and advising on any adjustments Ensure compliance with ARCADIS drafting and BIM standards and national drafting and BIM standards throughout all projects Guide a project team through the BIM process and provide ad hoc assistance to the wider practice when required Liaise with the project team, client and consultants to review all BIM models for the project and make any necessary amendments Champion the use of BIM while balancing its application to ensure meaningful project and client benefits are achieved Engage with clients Promote the use of BIM and best practice throughout the organization Meet and present to Clients on BIM related issues Continuously review the optimal BIM related software Present to Arcadis Senior Managers to develop their understanding around BIM and win support for new initiatives as part of the continual development of BIM Dimensions of the job: Typically assigned to provide a BIM management role on large, complex, multi-discipline projects Manage BIM delivery across multiple projects and across Business Units

Requirements

  • Understand and comply with the Code of Conduct operated by professional institution
  • Carry out and record CPD necessary to maintain and enhance competence in own area of practice
  • Undertake engineering work in a way that contributes to sustainable development. This could include an ability to operate and act responsibly, taking account of the need to progress environmental, social and economic outcomes simultaneously

  • Have technical ownership of Designer Hazard Logs, agreeing hierarchical system of risk management and communication of residual risks to the Principal Designer
  • Have a sound knowledge of legislation, hazards and safe systems of work
  • Understand how to manage health, safety and welfare within own area of responsibility
  • Experienced in leading, and working with, people from varied discipline, backgrounds and cultures
  • Can provide ownership in a BIM environments for project Design Decision Logs and Project Assumptions registers to record and agree key project decisions. Communicating key risk items to the Project Manager
  • Review and select appropriate techniques, procedures and methods to undertake tasks
  • Use appropriate scientific, technical or engineering principles
  • Identify problems and apply appropriate methods to identify causes and achieve satisfactory solutions
  • Identify, organise and use resources effectively to complete tasks, with consideration for cost, quality, safety, security and environmental impact
  • Work reliably and effectively without close supervision, to the appropriate codes of practice

  • Have advanced proficiency with relevant desktop applications and their application to support engineering tasks]
  • Able to provide input to estimates for the engineering budget and schedule and to oversee technical resources to meet requirements on large, straightforward projects
  • Have knowledge of the most important specifications and Description of BIM (ICT) tooling
  • Have capability to use ICT tools for viewing and coordinating BIM
  • Have capability in 2 or 3 BIM modelling related software packages
  • Are experienced in applying their design experience to the models they produce
  • Have ability to define BIM outcomes
  • Able to apply their design experience to the models they produce
  • Have ability in setting up and coordinating a BIM Protocol and Execution Plan for a given project
  • Have a Degree and/or qualification in a relevant technical subject including elements of Modelling (HND/HNC or equivalent)
  • Have achieved Engineering Technician status or equivalent through a recognised professional institution and may be looking to convert this to Incorporated status
  • Have substantial relevant (production) experience in design, drafting or engineering and BIM
