About The Position

The Athletic Trainer, under direction, prevents, cares and treats injuries to athletes using necessary knowledge of injury patterns and modern principle of athletic training. Collects samples for drug testing. Supervises and educates student athletic trainers. Salary information: The expected salary for this position is $65,000.00 annually.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • One-year full-time experience or three years part-time, paid or voluntary experience as a student trainer.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • General knowledge of NAIA and NCAA rules.
  • Knowledge of drug testing procedures.
  • Ability to comprehend oral and written instructions
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Medical & First Aid skills including joint taping and physical therapy skills.
  • Must be able to obtain State of Texas License to practice Athletic Training within six months.
  • Ability to travel and work beyond normal working hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • This position is required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA regulations, in accordance with system policy and further required to complete HIPAA training as a condition of employment within a reasonable timeframe after the individual’s employment and on an as-needed basis thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and delivers athletic training services to assigned teams including prevention, recognition, evaluation, and treatment of athletic injuries; acute care and emergency response to athletic injuries; rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries; and health care administration for the student-athletes.
  • Evaluates, treats and rehabilitates injuries of TAMUT athletes.
  • Taping, bracing and preparation of student athletes for practice and games (events) of assigned sports.
  • Provides attendance and supervision, for safety preventive and emergency care of student athletes, at practices and games (events) of assigned sports.
  • Travel, as directed and required, with assigned teams.
  • Charting and record keeping of student athlete injuries while utilizing current record keeping systems and protocols.
  • Coordination and consultation with Physicians, and student athletes and medical facilities regarding health care.
  • Assists in supervision of student athletic trainer apprenticeship education.
  • Maintains required professional licenses and certifications.
  • Assists in maintenance and supervision of athletic training room, equipment, and supply inventory.
  • Assist with the operations of respective sports camps or clinics.
  • Ensure NAIA/NCAA compliance
