The Attribute Engineer, EV Powertrain / Propulsion will cross-functionally lead the development, integration, and validation of all Powertrain / Propulsion attribute requirements for our electric vehicle. This position requires a deep understanding automotive EV Powertrain / Propulsion technical specifications and performance targets, with responsibility for setting technical targets, ensuring feasibility, and executing validation. The Attribute Engineer must exhibit a customer-focused approach and be able to cross-functionally collaborate effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • 5+ years of vehicle development experience within EV Powertrain / Propulsion in the automotive industry, including target setting, feasibility, integration, and validation at the vehicle level.
  • Broad vehicle development process knowledge, including how to set technical targets, work with teams to determine feasibility (virtually and physically), and validate with statistical confidence.
  • Functional experience with all NHTSA / FMVSS, CARB, EPA, FCC, or other regulatory requirements.
  • Technical writing and documentation experience is required.
  • Excellent team building and relationship building skills, including the ability to lead teams and meetings through technical tradeoffs and optimized solutions with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Highly adaptable and proactive, excelling in fast-paced start-up and new model launch environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must have the ability to travel (up to 20%).
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Design Release Engineering experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop vehicle level targets for all Powertrain / Propulsion attributes for the complete vehicle.
  • Oversee vehicle integration for all Powertrain / Propulsion attributes, including requirements, feasibility, and validation at the vehicle level.
  • Identify and resolve Powertrain / Propulsion integration and design issues as the vehicle is developed.
  • Lead Powertrain / Propulsion team meetings, working with all product development teams including systems and components, packaging, manufacturing, and service to ensure the technical targets are set, solutions are optimized for all stages of the vehicle's life, and validation is executed.
  • Lead the team in problem resolution, with the ability to present recommended solutions to the management team.
  • Maintain vehicle level scorecards with input from the team.
