Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm General Purpose of Job: To provide support to the DCH Audiology staff by supporting: the delivery of audiology care, the dispensing of hearing aids, and the newborn hearing screening program. Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required, some college completion preferred
Current Texas License as an Audiology Assistant, or eligible and able to obtain within 90 days of employment.
Eligibility includes completion of the Council for Accreditation of Occupational Hearing Conservancy (CAOHC) course and examination.
Current CPR certification or will complete within 90 days upon hire

Responsibilities

Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
Assesses patient needs while supporting the audiologist(s) during audiometric assessment of patients.
Supports the audiologist by assisting with setup and technical tasks.
Maintains stock levels in the audiology clinical areas.
Supports clerical and other departmental organizational duties as needed.
Ensures work areas are cleaned and ready for the delivery of patient care at all times.
Ensures equipment is in working order and calibrations are current.
Marks as “out of service” and reports any malfunctioning or out-of-calibration equipment immediately.
Supports the audiologist by assisting with case histories.
Able to complete pure tone hearing screenings, tympanometric screenings and otoacoustic emission screening procedures.
Able to perform non-diagnostic otoscopy.
Supports hearing aid management at DCH by performing hearing aid checks, minor repairs, cleaning hearing aids, and instructing patients and families in proper use and care of hearing aids and other amplification devices.
Is able to prepare materials for ear molds.
Completes newborn hearing screenings in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Completes all clerical functions required for hearing aid program and newborn hearing screening program.
Complies with clinical documentation requirements.
Participates in a variety of patient care related team meetings.
Participates in departmental meetings.
Participates in process improvement.
Participates in community outreach conducted on behalf of the Driscoll Children’s Hospital Audiology Department.
Maintains billable productivity level as required.
Generates suggestions for improving work processes.
Will provide Holiday/Week-end on call coverage as needed.
Demonstrates an understanding of evidence based practice.
Demonstrates the ability to use computer/software applications required for the job.
Ensures all equipment is in good working order with current calibration.
Supports purchasing needs within in the audiology department.
Complies with infection control responsibilities in the department.
Will occasionally drive for Driscoll Children’s Hospital business.
May be required to work at an alternate location (inpatient or outpatient based on skill set) to support patient care needs.
Demonstrates flexibility regarding departmental scheduling needs including but not limited to compliance with family-friendly hours, floating between settings and locations, offering hours that support the patient population, etc.
