About The Position

About The Role Our Authentication Centers (warehouses) are where the magic happens! The Art & Science of Real comes to life within our facilities located in New Jersey and Arizona — combining the knowledge of hundreds of luxury experts with cutting-edge, proprietary technology. As consigned goods travel into our facilities, the team processes, authenticates, and photographs each item in preparation for listing to our website. As an Authenticator at The RealReal, you will be responsible for inspecting and processing incoming consigned products and entering supporting data into our inventory system. Our ideal candidates are team-players with a passion for sustainable luxury, and keen attention to detail. If you are a self-motivated individual with a background in fashion retail and a desire to build upon your knowledge of luxury, this could be the perfect match! In addition to hourly base pay, we also offer: Tenure-based pay program: Get rewarded for your commitment with 2 automatic pay increases during your first 12 months, up to $0.75 MORE PER HOUR. Pay for Performance program: Opportunity to earn a monthly bonus equivalent up to $2.30 more per hour when exceeding your performance goals. $50 in monthly food credits to apply to snacks and meals that are available for purchase on site.

Requirements

• Experience working in the retail or fashion industry
• Strong fashion knowledge – including top designers and brands, current trends, fabrics, garment construction, etc.
• Proven ability to excel in a high-volume, repetitive environment
• Self-motivation and a drive to achieve results
• Exceptional attention to detail and organization skills
• Adaptability and openness to change
• Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds (moving and sorting product, etc.)
• Ability to stand for a minimum of 8 hours at a time
• Ability to read and write in English
• Proficiency with Mac OS and Google Suite

Nice To Haves

• College degree in fashion studies/merchandising, textiles studies, etc.
• Experience working in authentication roles

Responsibilities

• Review and authenticate luxury clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories using TRR methodology and adhering to acceptance and condition standards
• Authenticate luxury products by locating brand identifiers (holograms, date codes, authenticity cards, and hallmarks) and evaluating the quality of materials and construction
• Evaluate quality of materials and construction
• Reference internal authentication resources to accurately review products
• Remain well-versed on current brand trends & developments
• Notate and report details of product into back-end TRR system
• Write informative product descriptions using industry-standard fashion terms
• Data Entry (Provide pertinent product information such as measurements and fabrication)
