About the position
Our Transportation Operations department is currently in search of an Auto Mechanic B L1-2. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary knowledge and skills to diagnose, maintain, and repair a diverse range of company vehicles. This includes, but is not limited to, cars, vans, and trucks, as well as various types of equipment. The role demands a thorough understanding of automotive systems, a problem-solving mindset, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair a diverse range of company vehicles including cars, vans, and trucks.
- Perform labor-intensive tasks such as pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Work in, under, and on top of all types of company vehicles and/or equipment.
- Respond to company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to customers.
- Obtain applicable certificates of fitness from the NYC Fire Department and a New York State DMV Inspectors Certification within 6 months.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of various vehicle systems and hands-on experience to successfully repair systems such as drive trains, hydraulics, and coolant systems.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED and 2 years of relevant work experience or a relevant automotive certificate from a post-secondary vocational school in Auto Mechanics/Automotive Technology (or related field) or Associate's Degree in Auto Mechanics, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience repairing drive trains, hydraulics, and coolant systems.
- Driver's License required.
- Certificate of Fitness from FDNY within 180 days required.
- NYS DMV Inspectors License within 180 days required.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class A within 1 year required.
Nice-to-haves
- ASE certifications in Engine Repair, Electrical and Brakes or equivalent industry/major manufacturer's certifications.
