About The Position

RETTEW is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Designer to support our growing Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) team. This role focuses on utility and linear infrastructure projects and plays a critical part in delivering accurate, high-quality design documents that support safe and efficient project execution. The AutoCAD Designer supports SUE project teams by producing utility design drawings, exhibits, and plan sets for public and private infrastructure projects. This role is essential to ensuring design accuracy, regulatory compliance, and coordination between survey, engineering, and construction stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, technical school certification, or Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of AutoCAD experience supporting utility or linear infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of utility design and 811 project requirements
  • Experience creating plan/profile drawings and construction-ready documents
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ASCE 38-22 SUE standards
  • Experience preparing permit plans and utility crossing exhibits
  • Knowledge of Civil 3D Vault systems
  • Experience with GPS and survey data processing
  • Understanding of grading, earthwork, and restoration plans
  • GIS experience
  • Experience with IFA/IFB/IFC drawings

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed AutoCAD and Civil 3D drawings for utility and linear infrastructure projects
  • Develop plan view, profile, data bars, and sheet layouts for design and construction documents
  • Support electric, gas, water, sewer, stormwater, and utility crossing projects
  • Prepare permit plans, exhibits, and restoration plans as required
  • Incorporate existing conditions surveys and GPS/survey data into design files
  • Perform QA/QC reviews in accordance with RETTEW and practice standards
  • Maintain organized project files following company procedures
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Team Leads across active projects
  • Serve as a technical resource or mentor for CADD operators as needed
