AutoCAD Drafter
About The Position
We’re seeking a dynamic AutoCAD Drafter to support our Engineering Services Team. In this role, you will develop Engineering Judgments/Technical Evaluations and produce accurate 2D technical drawings using AutoCAD. You’ll work closely with engineers and subject matter experts to interpret specifications, create detailed documentation, and maintain consistent, high‑quality system files. This position focuses on precision, clarity, and timely delivery within established service‑level expectations. This position is based on-site at our Corporate headquarters in Somerville, New Jersey. Initial training will be conducted fully on‑site, after which the role will transition into a hybrid/remote work schedule.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience working in fast‑paced environments with short turnaround times.
- Experience collaborating or coordinating with engineering teams.
- Workable knowledge of: AutoCAD Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams Adobe and Salesforce (or similar task‑based software)
- Basic paint/drawing software
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow standardized drafting procedures.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.
- Willingness to adapt to new systems and continue learning relevant software.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree in Design Modeling/Drafting preferred.
- Technical school or drafting coursework (helpful but not required).
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering can be beneficial but is not required.
- Architectural or MEP drafting experience is a plus.
- Helpful but not required: Smartsheets (or similar task‑based platforms) SolidWorks Revit or Inventor
- Additional technical drafting coursework
Responsibilities
- Draft and modify technical drawings in AutoCAD based on engineering specifications and client needs.
- Utilize dynamic blocks and maintain consistent drawing standards across all projects.
- Provide drafting and technical support in AutoCAD format to support firestop applications.
- Review, revise, and quality-check engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Organize and manage project files systematically to allow easy access and revisions.
- Communicate effectively with engineers and team members to clarify specifications and resolve drafting related issues.
- Work within established CAD standards, templates, and workflows.
- Maintain a structured digital file system for easy retrieval and reference.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline drafting processes.
