About The Position

We Are TevaWe’re Teva, a leading innovative biopharmaceutical company, enabled by a world-class generics business. Whether it’s innovating in the fields of neuroscience and immunology or delivering high-quality medicine worldwide, we’re dedicated to addressing patients’ needs now and in the future. Here, you will be part of a high-performing, inclusive culture that values fresh thinking and collaboration. You'll have the room to grow, the flexibility to balance life with work, and the opportunity to better health worldwide, together. Our Team, Your ImpactThe Principal Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, and optimizing the core control logic that governs laboratory instruments, plant floor machinery, and utility equipment. You will translate complex process requirements into robust automated sequences (PLC/SCADA) to ensure Teva’s manufacturing processes are precise, repeatable, and compliant.

Requirements

  • Education: B.S. in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
  • Logic Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal) and HMI/SCADA platforms (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware, or iFix).
  • Analytical Troubleshooting: Strong root-cause analysis skills for debugging complex code-to-hardware conflicts and "ghost" alarms.
  • Network Knowledge: Experience with industrial networking and the integration of VFDs, Servo Drives, and Instrumentation into a unified control logic.
  • Instrumentation: Deep understanding of how physical sensors (Pressure, Temp, Flow) convert to digital signals for logic processing.
  • Experience: 7–10 years in a Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences environment with a proven track record of supporting Validated Control Systems.
  • Communication: Ability to lead large-scale automation projects and present Logic Flowcharts and Functional Overviews to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Logic Development: Design, author, and test complex control logic (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Blocks) for PLCs and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • HMI/SCADA Integration: Develop and maintain Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) and SCADA layers to provide operators with real-time process visibility and manual override logic.
  • System Architecture: Construct and maintain the hardware/software interface, ensuring seamless communication between Fieldbus networks (EtherNet/IP, Profibus, Modbus) and the control layer.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze machine cycle times and PID loop tuning to improve mechanical reliability and process throughput.
  • Hardware Interfacing: Employ various programming languages and protocols to integrate 3rd-party OEM equipment into the centralized plant control system.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Process Equipment and Process Development groups to translate "Process Requirements" into "Functional Logic Design."
  • System Reliability: Recommend logic-based interlocks and safety protocols to improve equipment uptime and prevent batch failures.
  • Vendor Management: Ensure that all new automated equipment and control panels meet Teva’s internal coding standards and hardware specifications.
  • Apply GMP principles within the workplace. Incorporate cGMP and regulatory compliance into all assigned project scopes, design and construction activities.
