The Automation Engineering Intern will work with a small R&D team to develop industry leading robotic automation for complex material handling applications. This includes R&D and prototype development to successfully bring new products to market. On top of integrating of existing solutions, this role also includes R&D and prototype development to successfully bring new products to market. The process involves understanding the customer's goals and objectives and developing engineered solutions to meet these goals. Technologies used in this position include: IEC 61131-3 PLC programming, python, C/C++, ROS, AutoCAD/Solidworks Electrical, industrial sensors and instrumentation, various communication protocols, and safety systems. An Automation Engineer is generally involved in executing all phases of an automation project from concept and research to on-site installation/debug, and sales support. The Automation Engineering intern will spend time learning about recent designs and assist with testing and troubleshooting new solutions. Hands on electrical and mechanical capabilities will be frequently relied upon. Computer literacy, specifically with MS Office products, Rockwell/Allen Bradley software packages, robotic programming, and AutoCAD/SolidWorks Electrical preferred.
