About The Position

ACE Controls – Automation Field Technician Humble, TX Founded in January 2005, ACE Controls brings over 30 years of combined expertise in control panel design, fabrication, and integration. We specialize in serving the Water & Wastewater, Food & Beverage sectors, and partnering with manufacturers of process equipment; pumps, compressors, blowers, conveyors, mixers, and clarifiers. Our deep industry knowledge and commitment to quality make us a trusted resource for precision-engineered control systems. Our Automation Technicians play a vital role in the installation, testing, and maintenance of our automation systems. Working with control panels, wiring, and diagnostic equipment to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently. This hands-on position interprets schematics, troubleshooting issues, and supporting engineers during system commissioning at our customer sites.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications in electrical or automation fields are a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in commissioning control systems, wiring control panels, and working with industrial automation components.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work in various environments
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment for installation and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and related automation technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, willingness to travel to customer sites as required

Nice To Haves

  • technical training or certifications in electrical or automation fields are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute tasks including wire terminations, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of automation equipment
  • Interpret schematics and diagrams accurately
  • Use diagnostic tools and computer-supported software for testing and configuration.
  • Support engineers during PLC system testing and commissioning
  • Create service reports, calibration documentation, and track time and materials
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to perform hands-on service
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and observe company safety standards and procedures
  • Other tasks as assigned
