About The Position

As an Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 (IV Compounding), you will play a key role in supporting safe, accurate, and efficient sterile compounding operations through the use of Omnicell automated IV equipment. You will serve as a technical expert responsible for equipment readiness, troubleshooting, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with all IV compounding standards. You will also collaborate closely with pharmacy leadership and customer partners to maintain exceptional service and operational excellence. A Day in the Life In this role, you will: Prepare, calibrate, and maintain Omnicell automated IV equipment for daily operations. Compound sterile IV medications using aseptic technique while following all established guidelines and safety standards. Conduct routine and advanced troubleshooting on automation devices and escalate unresolved issues appropriately. Manage medication and consumable inventories to ensure constant availability for production. Review daily production, quality, and equipment reports to identify trends and ensure compliance. Maintain ongoing communication with the Pharmacy Services Manager and customer teams to address concerns and support smooth operations. Serve as a technical resource for IV automation workflows and best practices.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills; accurate, reliable, and efficient work habits.
  • Demonstrated customer-facing and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work confidently with mechanical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of PC hardware and Windows environments.
  • Basic Qualifications High school diploma or GED.
  • Active National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB, NHA-CPhT, or ExCPT).
  • Active State Board of Pharmacy Technician License/Registration for Ohio (OH) (if required).
  • Working knowledge of IV compounding (1 year experience preferred).

  • Advanced troubleshooting abilities with automation devices.
  • Experience as a departmental SME in Pharmacy Services.
  • One year of IV Compounding experience.
  • Knowledge of hazardous medication handling.
  • Proficiency with PPE and hand hygiene standards.
  • Working knowledge of sterile environment requirements.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform IV automation tasks in an aseptic and error-free manner in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Clean, maintain, and perform advanced troubleshooting on Omnicell IV automation equipment.
  • Follow Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs procedures at all times.
  • Identify and reorder medications to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Monitor and order consumable supplies required for automated IV compounding.
  • Report unresolved equipment issues to the IV HD and Pharmacy Services Manager.
  • Maintain strong communication with both internal teams and customer partners to proactively address issues.
  • Support high levels of customer satisfaction by providing professional, responsive, and quality-focused service.
  • Serve as liaison between Omnicell and customer sites to address operational needs.
  • Comply with the customer facility’s IV compounding procedures, policies, and guidelines.
  • Complete required negative fingertip and media fill sampling.
  • Maintain state and/or national credentialing per established standards.
