About The Position

We are looking for our next Automation & Process Control Engineer within our MT (manufacturing technology) Automation & Process Control team. The Automation & Process Control Engineer will be responsible for completing process control assignments related to capital projects, applicable across the entire global business unit. While in this role, you will be involved in control strategy design, development of control software, as well as identification of process improvement opportunities through process control. This role will also prioritize implementation of automation work and facilitate the work of other automation resources from central engineering, plant technicians, and contractors for capital projects. This position is located at Midland, Michigan with consideration for location at Plaquemine, Louisiana.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in either Automation and Process Control or Manufacturing.
  • Experience working in manufacturing or chemical facilities or process industry facilities required.
  • Ability to interact with cross functional teams, engineering groups, plant operations, research and commercial organization and management is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Process Automation development and design is preferred.
  • Familiarity with project work processes in the process control discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership and manage process control development of Distributed Control System modifications for capital projects globally within the Health & Pharma Solutions global business unit.
  • Consult on or directly provide support for process automation assets for the facilities globally.
  • Consult on or directly provide systems administrator support for the process control area networks.
  • Support identification and implementation of required cyber-security measures.
  • Identify process automation improvement opportunities on capital projects and provide value assessments and prioritization.
  • Develop the ability to provide backup support for day-to-day operations at some facilities to meet business goals.
  • Ensure process control software enables improvement of process automation performance metrics including alarm management, manual intervention reduction, and Safety Instrumented System trips.
  • Design and develop creative and effective process control strategies to optimize plant operations.
  • Work closely with process control and process experts at the facilities to ensure optimum control solution design for capital projects.
  • Manage the work of automation resources allocated to capital projects for your specific project assignments (which may include technicians, engineers, and external contractors).
  • Assure Safe & Unplanned-Event free implementation of process automation projects.
  • Responsible for coordinating Process Automation related training for applicable personnel on the site.
  • Work with peers (locally, regionally, and across the business) in the technology group to share knowledge, ideas as well as develop standards and best practices.
