Automation Process Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Redford, Michigan). Responsible for a broad range of activities including CAD design, rapid prototyping, mechanical design, process development for manufacturing, packaging design, and robotic automation cell design. Develop novel automation process for Ford’s next generational products in a fast-paced innovative environment. Work with a diverse and highly capable team that engages with multiple key organizations at Ford to deliver new automation enablers. Design and develop manufacturing process flows and optimization strategies for adoption of latest trends and technologies to achieve efficiency improvements. Design and develop CAD models using software such as Inventor, CATIA, or similar, to support manufacturing and automation projects. Design and develop custom robot tooling designs. Lead rapid prototyping efforts to swiftly bring concepts to tangible models for further development or testing. Program and troubleshoot collaborative robots and industrial robots, incorporating robot simulation, tool design, and robot path planning. Design, implement, and optimize automation cells to enhance manufacturing operations. Facilitate design review sessions and lead PFMEA activities to identify and mitigate risks in the manufacturing process. Prepare and deliver technical presentations and demonstrations for team reviews, MTD project review meetings, and executive reviews.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Robotics or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
  • Working in a manufacturing environment in an automation engineering role.
  • Developing automation systems, including developing CAD designs, programming industrial robots, programming collaborative robots, completing workstation commissioning, and tooling design.
  • Programming Fanuc industrial robots and Universal Robots.
  • Developing robot simulation using RoboGuide.
  • 1 year of experience with each of the following skills is required:
  • Integrating and launching 3D computer vision systems for robot guidance and inspection purposes.
  • Designing hardware in CAD software with Inventor or Solidworks.
