About The Position

Catalyx is seeking a skilled Automation/Systems Administrator with a strong background in automation systems and IT infrastructure, particularly within regulated manufacturing environments such as pharmaceuticals. This role will support the onboarding, integration, and maintenance of shop floor equipment and automation systems, ensuring compliance with GMP, data integrity, and cybersecurity best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in automation systems, systems administration, or industrial IT in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with SCADA, PLCs, historians, and automation servers.
  • Understanding of GMP regulations, data integrity, and pharmaceutical industry standards.
  • Familiarity with user access controls, audit trail management, and compliance documentation.
  • Experience working with vendors on technical evaluations, solution proposals, and software assessments.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of ISA-95 and integration models between business and control systems.
  • Exposure to OT cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISA/IEC 62443).
  • Experience in system validation and CSV (Computer System Validation) processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to onboard and interface new shop floor equipment into the existing network infrastructure.
  • Manage and maintain equipment and systems such as servers, PLCs, SCADA systems, and data historians used in operational and manufacturing environments.
  • Ensure all automation systems and data interfaces meet GMP compliance, data integrity, and 21 CFR Part 11 standards.
  • Conduct regular user access reviews, system health checks, and audit trail reviews to maintain system integrity and compliance.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal teams and external equipment/software vendors to propose system requirements and assess equipment software design.
  • Participate in system qualification and validation activities, including design reviews, risk assessments, and testing protocols.
  • Apply basic knowledge of ISA-95 architecture for effective integration between enterprise and control systems.
  • Support OT cybersecurity practices by identifying and mitigating security risks in industrial control environments.
