About The Position

Builds new automation and supports existing equipment. Responsibilities include press and custom automation builds, part machining and fabrication, machine trouble shooting and maintenance, pneumatic and water circuit plumbing on presses and Production improvements. Provides meaningful project updates to larger Automation team. Other responsibilities may include creating training materials, mentoring and training others, supporting production processes, and solving problems as a part of multifunctional teams.

Requirements

  • High school education coursework or GED required.
  • Two-year tool & die degree or four years experience in tooling or moldmaking preferred.
  • Experience using machining tools such as metal saws, mills, grinders, lathes, EDM sinkers, EDM Hole Burner and CNC Mill.
  • Ability to operate personal computer.
  • Ability to learn software required to perform job functions (i.e. MS Outlook, IQMS, and Solid Works software).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products required.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and utilize instructions and short correspondence with professionals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratios, percent and use trigonometry.
  • Ability to read and understand complicated designs and drawings.
  • Ability to solve technical issues and deal with a number of variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • An understanding of cause and effect as it relates to Automation and Toolmaking.
  • Use of experience to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Willingness to attend conferences or training to enhance and update knowledge and skills.
  • Occasional travel may be requested for company business.
  • Overtime may be required to meet work demands.
  • Mentor and train employees learning automation techniques.
  • Ability to direct work task to others if you are assigned the lead role in a project.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is required to stand and use hand to manipulate very small parts or tweezers.
  • Sense of touch may be used to detect texture, burs and edges.
  • Frequent movement throughout the facility is required.
  • Normal or corrected to normal vision is required with good color vision, close vision, and ability to use microscope and adjust focus.
  • May be required to move or transport up to 55 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in machining and measurement methods, Toolmaker skills necessary for Automation fabrication.
  • Ability to understand drawings and deliver conforming parts.
  • Ability to use CAD for troubleshooting and assembly reference.
  • Ability to prioritize in order to meet due dates and support Production as needed.
  • Provides updates to other Automation members and members of larger project teams.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical problems. Recommends/implements solutions.
  • Builds systems for testing concepts in development environment.
  • Works with multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems and complete projects.
  • Remains objective when evaluating multiple options, including own ideas; creates checklists.
  • Provides accurate cost and time estimates.
  • Understands function of mold, molding press and molding process sequences.
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a group; may provide training for others.
  • Must be a self-starter with a sense of urgency to complete tasks.
  • Supports Production as needed by troubleshooting, applying solutions and providing ongoing preventative maintenance.
  • Performs other duties as required.
