(Automotive) Product Development Engineer Job Description

Purpose of Position:

As a member of the Product Development team, the Product Development Specialist is responsible to develop and launch products and support operations as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Develop new products in the Automotive and Industrial Business Units through the PBAR (Potential Business Analysis Request) process and are executed using an APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning Process) as assigned by Product Development Manager that meet cost, quality, functionality, launch schedule, manufacturing and specification requirements.

Create and maintain BOM, Process Specs, Control Plans, FMEAs. PPAP's.

Execute projects of cost and capacity improvement as assigned by Product Development Manager.

*
Provide technical support and troubleshooting to manufacturing operations and customers.

*
Direct activity of technicians and plant employees during trials and testing.

*
To transfer Company technology from company operations as required.

*
Other duties as assigned.

(Automotive) Product Development Engineer Job Requirements

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Education

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or equivalent.

Experience

Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in a medium to large automotive, manufacturing environment in a product development role.

Preferred experience in appearance related parts manufacturing with knowledge of color, texture, etc. or Polymer processing - calendaring, coating, extruding.

Working Conditions:

· Usually work in an office, plant and lab environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces.

· Standard work week, but additionally will often work evening, weekends, and overtime hours to accommodate activities

· Domestic and International travel.

This position is for a new thermoplastic vinyl manufacturing facility in New Braunfels, TX. The target hire date is September 1,2016. There are two openings for the Product Development Specialist. Training will take place for a period of three months in Canada. Must have a valid Passport!
