About The Position

Transdev in Salinas, CA is seeking an experienced B-Level Automotive Mechanic to bolster our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining gas vehicles across various vehicles and equipment. As a B Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our vehicles. Transdev is proud to offer: (Position Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement:) • $ 77,000 per year (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement Payscale) o Starting pay $40 per hr with progression to $45 over 3 years. Benefits include: • Vacation: minimum of two 1 week the first year and progressing as outlined in the CBA • Sick days: 5 days • Holidays: 8 standard (as outlined in the CBA) Other standard benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short-term disability, voluntary long-term disability. • Company paid ASE testing and bonuses for test completion • Paid CDL certification / renewal Benefits may vary depending on location policy. Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience as an Automotive Mechanic.
  • Must provide your own comprehensive tool set
  • Must have electrical diagnostic and repair skills
  • Must be familiar with scan tools, ability to run bi-lateral tests, pin-out testing, and data comprehension
  • Must have drivability diagnostic skills
  • Strong suspension and brake diagnostic skills
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
  • Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (if based in the U.S.).
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certifications preferred; ASE certification program provided
  • CDL a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct diagnostic tests using advanced tools and software to troubleshoot automotive drivability, electrical, suspension and outboard wheelchair lift issues.
  • Perform moderate to complex repairs and replacements of automotive components, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Assist A-Level Mechanics in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks, contributing to efficient workflow.
  • Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize fleet performance.
  • Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on automotive electrical systems and electric motors
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge
  • Other duties as required.
