About The Position

The AV/Network Engineering & AI Intern will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the video and network infrastructure at BCBSMA’s Boston office. This unique hybrid role merges traditional network support with cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) development. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated and technically curious college student who is passionate about applying AI to solve real-world infrastructure challenges. The person filling this role will be a member of the Video/Network team, supporting platforms such as Cisco switches, wireless networking, and video conferencing systems (Crestron, Biamp). Concurrently, you will be deeply integrated with our innovative AI Lab, focusing on developing and deploying AI-powered solutions to improve our network's reliability, efficiency, and user experience. This position works closely with business leaders, Facilities management, AI lab engineers, and various other groups within Enterprise Technology.

Requirements

  • Currently, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • An interest in both Artificial Intelligence and modern IT infrastructure.
  • Foundational knowledge of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, Ethernet, VoIP, SIP).
  • Must be approachable, teachable, and a team player with a strong desire to learn in a highly evolving, security-focused environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to maintain a high level of business professionalism and confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with or exposure to networking and AV equipment (e.g., Cisco switches, Crestron processors, Biamp devices).
  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its AI/ML services (like Vertex AI).
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and tools like GitLab, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Understanding of API design principles (e.g., REST, OpenAPI).
  • Strong programming skills, with proficiency in Python.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine testing to ensure the functionality and operational integrity of video and network equipment.
  • Develop, test, and deploy Generative AI applications on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for proactive monitoring and troubleshooting of network and video systems.
  • Build and refine AI agents and solutions using Gemini Enterprise and Python to automate support tasks and analyze system performance.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of video and network hardware, including software upgrades and equipment renewal planning.
  • Collaborate with the AI Lab on the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from design and implementation to testing and deployment.
  • Maintain clear and professional standards for cable management, video routing, and signal protocols.
  • Manage source code, track project progress, and facilitate team collaboration using GitLab, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Provide excellent customer service while responding to user questions and facilitating major meetings.
