About The Position

The Aviation and Maritime Operations SME is responsible as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in aviation and maritime operations to provide surge and temporary expertise to R3 Program Managers in aviation-related taskings and to provide specific expertise in maritime operations to include maritime interdiction, visit board search and seizure and rescue swimmer operations.

Requirements

  • Mission-oriented FAA-rated Airline Transport Pilot and Navy veteran with extensive operational experience in navigation, mission planning, and high-tempo safety-critical environments for both aviation and maritime operations to include VBSS, MIO and SAR rescue swimmer operations
  • Demonstrated capability as a certified flight instructor for multiengine aircraft and instrument flight procedures with in-depth knowledge of all FAA operations.
  • Expertise across multiple airframes, avionics suites, and aviation training missions.
  • Expertise across numerous Navy maritime platforms to include Special Boat Teams, Assault Craft Units, naval warships
  • Strong background in standardization, instruction, crew coordination, and risk management built from both civilian aviation and Navy operational roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise in aviation and maritime operations to provide surge and temporary expertise to R3 Program Managers in aviation-related taskings and to provide specific expertise in maritime operations to include maritime interdiction, visit board search and seizure and rescue swimmer operations.
  • Provide expert advice to the program managers for aviation and maritime operations across NECC EOD and Maritime Expeditionary Security Forces (MESF) operations ashore, at sea and in the waters of harbors, rivers, bays and across the littorals to include port and harbor security, and high value asset security inland, on coastal waterways and ashore.
  • Serve as an Aviation Operations Specialist for navigation and mission planning for both visual and instrument meteorological conditions. Provide advice and input on safe, compliant flight operations through checklist discipline, SOP adherence, and crew coordination. Support required preflight planning, performance calculations, and weather evaluation and advise PMs on operational planning
  • Contribute to a safety-first culture in dynamic mission environments and varying weather conditions through operational best practices, systems management, and safety procedures
  • Support PMs with maintaining training records, managing student progress, and reinforcing standardized techniques.
  • For maritime interdiction taskings, apply deep experience in maritime navigation, communication, mission planning, and operational execution from Navy service, including over-the-horizon navigation planning and execution; Search and Rescue readiness, swimmer training, and mission capability sustainment; Maritime interdiction support and team-based mission operations and Amphibious ship-to-shore mission planning and navigation for assault craft operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
