About The Position

The Cox Enterprises Aviation Maintenance Internship is a comprehensive program that will expose selected candidates to every facet of a modern-day corporate flight department. The internship is designed to further the experience of aviation students who are pursuing careers as maintenance technicians through hands-on experience at a top-tier business aviation maintenance facility. The aviation maintenance intern will report directly to a Technical Operations Manager as assigned by the Director of Technical Operations. Duties and responsibilities will vary on a day-to-day basis depending on the needs of the department and their sub-groups

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • A recent graduate of or currently enrolled in a Part 147 school or accredited aviation program.
  • Carry a minimum 2.5 GPA (for actively enrolled students).
  • Submit a current resume.
  • Provide one letter of recommendation from either a faculty member or aviation industry professional.
  • Submit a 250-word, typed, double-spaced essay describing your interest in and goals for a career in the aviation maintenance field.
  • Must complete and submit application to be considered.
  • If selected – Candidate must complete and pass a background check and drug test.
  • Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.
  • No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarization of aircraft maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, illustrated parts catalogs, etc.
  • Understanding basic troubleshooting
  • Shadowing technicians while performing aircraft maintenance tasks
  • Reviewing Quality Control procedures
  • Fueling and defueling aircraft
  • Towing aircraft
  • Learning hand signals for marshalling aircraft
  • Operating ground support equipment (hydraulic mules, bead breakers, power carts, etc.)
  • Installing aircraft data bases
  • Researching Airworthiness Directives and aircraft Service Bulletins
  • Exposure to logbook entries and record keeping
  • Updating computerized maintenance tracking programs
  • Introductions to the Minimum Equipment List, Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums, and Flight Manuals
