About The Position

ACET is seeking a highly experienced wire shop electrician / avionics technician. The Electrician in the DoD Aerospace Wire Shop is responsible for the precise assembly, installation, and testing of aircraft wiring harnesses and electrical components in accordance with engineering drawings, schematics, technical directives (TDs), and DoD standards. This role performs tasks such as cutting, stripping, soldering, terminating, plug build ups, and wire board setup and routing while ensuring proper labeling and documentation. The Electrician conducts continuity, insulation, and functional testing to verify system performance, identifies and resolves discrepancies, and coordinates with engineering and quality teams to maintain compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. This position supports the manufacturing, integration, and maintenance of military aircraft and ensures all work is completed to the highest standards of accuracy, reliability, and traceability in alignment with AS9100 standards.

Requirements

  • Proficient in reading, Interpreting and utilize technical manuals (TD / IDP), schematics, and diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical principles and troubleshooting techniques specific to avionics
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate various hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Competence in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers for accurate assessments.
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, repair and certify avionics upgrades and modifications as needed.
  • Ability to route wires / cables, clamp, hardware build ups, preform connector terminations and connector build-up.
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently in a team environment.
  • Minimum 5 years of aviation avionics maintenance experience.
  • Experience with MIL spec wiring and Coax, (Single stand, double and triple twisted pairs, Triax and Quadrax wires)
  • IPC J-STD-001solder certification is preferred.
  • Experience on Amphenol, Glenair, Coax connector termination and close up processes.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing-level maintenance procedures and processes.
  • Extensive training in maintenance testing and diagnostic routine designed for radio frequency and/or millimeter wave equipment
  • Knowledge of FAA, military, and industry standards related to avionics systems.
  • Familiarity with aircraft wiring, including MIL-SPEC connectors and harnesses.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for avionics testing and repair.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical documentation and team collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical wiring fabrication and electronics experience including naval helicopter systems. Avionics / Electrician Certifications.
  • Past Quality Assurance or QAR Experience.
  • Active Secret security clearance, or the ability to obtain one if required.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, assembly aircraft wiring harnesses according to engineering drawings, schematics, and Technical Directives (TDs).
  • Cut, strip, crimp, solder, and terminate wires and components to meet required specifications.
  • Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing on harnesses using standard avionics test equipment.
  • Layout wires to wire board diagrams.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including assembly records, inspection forms, and test results.
  • Follow industry and AS9100 standards.
  • Follow ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and safety procedures for handling sensitive avionics equipment. Identify and resolve discrepancies, notify engineering or quality teams of issues affecting performance or compliance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and process adherence.
